Bobby (72) drives along the Westautobahn between Vienna and Salzburg, offering his journeys as shared rides. The young passengers bring along anecdotes and reflections that touch on their lives beyond the road, the state of the world, the ever present past of this highway. A sense of war is in the air. Sometimes, Bobby shares the reason for his travels: his friend Arthur, who lies in a coma in hospital. Over the many months of his journey, the fragments gradually come together to reveal more about their bond. Outside the car, the same landscape passes by, changing only with the light, weather, and seasons.
